Caregivers & Siblings Corner

Caregivers

  • Taking Care of Yourself Matters – As a caregiver, your well-being is just as important as the person you support. Prioritizing self-care can help prevent burnout and keep you feeling emotionally and physically strong.

  • Staying Healthy While Caregiving – Caregiving can take a toll on your body. Making time for regular exercise, sleep, and stress management can help you stay in the best shape to care for your loved one.

  • Managing Finances and Finding Resources – Caring for someone with disabilities can come with financial challenges. Knowing what assistance programs, benefits, and financial planning options are available can make a huge difference.

  • Navigating the Healthcare System – Understanding how to work with doctors, therapists, and specialists can help you advocate for the best care and make medical visits less stressful.

  • Handling Challenging Behaviors – Every person communicates in their own way. Learning strategies to address difficult behaviors while strengthening communication can help create a more positive caregiving experience.

  • Planning for the Future – Thinking ahead about long-term care, legal matters, and financial security ensures your loved one has the support they need even as circumstances change.

  • Building a Support Network – You don’t have to do this alone. Connecting with other caregivers, joining support groups, and using community resources can provide emotional support and practical guidance.

Siblings' Corner

  • Understanding Your Sibling’s Disability – The more you know about your sibling’s diagnosis, the easier it is to build a strong relationship based on understanding, patience, and support.

  • Processing Your Feelings – Being a sibling of someone with disabilities comes with a mix of emotions—love, frustration, pride, and even confusion. Finding healthy ways to express and manage your feelings is important.

  • Balancing Family Life – It’s normal for family life to feel different when you have a sibling with disabilities. Finding ways to balance responsibilities and still get the attention you need is key.

  • Being Involved in Their Future – As your sibling gets older, you may have a role in their care. Learning about long-term plans and ways to support them can help you feel more prepared.

  • Finding Support and Community – You’re not alone. There are groups and resources specifically for siblings that can help you connect with others who understand your experience.

  • Becoming an Advocate – Whether it’s in school, the community, or the workplace, you can help make the world a more inclusive place for your sibling by speaking up and educating others.

  • Handling Social Situations – Sometimes people don’t understand disabilities, and that can be tough. Learning how to respond to questions, comments, or stares can help you feel more confident in any situation.

I provide compassionate support for those navigating anxiety and depression, offering practical tools to manage stress, improve mood, and build resilience. I help clients regain control, rediscover hope, and cultivate emotional wellness in a safe, nurturing environment. You don’t have to face it alone.

Trauma

Healing from trauma is possible. I offer a safe space to process painful experiences, reduce symptoms, and reclaim your sense of self. I gently guide clients toward empowerment and healing, fostering resilience, self-compassion, and hope while addressing the unique challenges of each individual’s journey.

Substance Use

I offer non-judgmental support for individuals navigating substance use challenges. We will focus on uncovering root causes, strengthening coping mechanisms, and developing sustainable recovery plans. I help clients regain control, rebuild relationships, and embrace healthier, fulfilling lives.

Sexuality

Understanding and embracing sexuality is a vital part of personal identity. I provide a supportive space for exploring questions, challenges, and experiences related to sexuality. Whether addressing acceptance, relationships, or identity, therapy is affirming, compassionate, and tailored to help clients find clarity, confidence, and connection.

Family Resilience

I help families navigate challenges and strengthen their bonds through compassion. My approach fosters open communication, mutual understanding, and emotional connection. By addressing stressors and building resilience, I empower families to work together, grow stronger, and create a supportive environment.

My Approach

I believe that every person has unique strengths and abilities, and my goal is to create a safe, supportive, and person-centered environment where individuals and families can thrive. Whether it’s developing tailored strategies for independence, addressing behavioral challenges, learning how to navigate emotions or connecting with community resources, I work collaboratively with clients and their support networks to develop practical and sustainable solutions.

My Experience

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals of all ages, helping them access services such as Medicaid waivers, educational supports, and employment programs. I also specialize in supporting families, providing guidance on caregiving strategies, emotional well-being, and advocacy. As a parent of children with IDD, I understand firsthand the joys and challenges families experience. This personal connection motivates me to approach each client with empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to their success.

Why I Do This Work

My journey as both a professional and a mother has taught me the importance of fostering inclusion and accessibility. I find immense joy in seeing individuals gain confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging. My goal is to meet clients where they are, building a partnership that respects their unique needs and goals.

Your Privacy Matters

I care deeply about your privacy and am committed to tailoring my work to meet the unique needs of each client. I am currently considered an Out-of-Network provider with all insurance plans. This allows me to focus entirely on delivering personalized therapy without the restrictions and limitations often imposed by insurance requirements. You can still use your insurance! I will provide you with a receipt (superbill) that most insurance plans allow you to submit for reimbursement. If you have questions about this process or need guidance, I’m happy to assist.

Let’s Work Together

If you’re looking for support, guidance, or a compassionate partner in your journey, I’m here to help. Together, we can create a plan that works for you and your loved ones. Feel free to reach out and connect—I look forward to hearing from you!
